Samuel Clemens,1876, The adventures of Tom Sawyer, illustrated classics, Chicago, America.I think that Tom will discover treasure by accident while exploring a place or making trouble. Plus i have a theory about the ending. It will end in painting a white fence. Just a theory.I have completly read the book and it does not end with painting a white fence! I wont spoil the ending though. In the end though i cant wait to read that OTHER book... huckleberry fin.

1. Describe the time and place in which your novel is set. What clues within the book tell us this?
The adventures of tom sawyer were most likely around the year 18 hundreds. The story place itself is in the Mississippi area and near the ocean considering the was talking about a river lead out into the Mississippi delta. Tom lives in a town that lives next to the river bank and Tom sometimes goes there to run away from his aunt or to play with his friend, Huckleberry Fin.
First off i have never read a Darren Shan before and I must say I like it so far. The setting is in a school somewhere in england. However I do think the enviroment will change very soon because they got some sort of flyer to a circus of evil or somthing along those lines. So i think the enviroment will become sort of jail like and dark.
2. Who are the main characters in your book? List the names and a short description of their personality traits.
The man character is Tom sawyer. He is a trouble maker and is cheeky, however he loves being bad. Tom also loves exploring unknown and random places. However we almost never does this without his friend: Huckleberry Fin. Huck is also the same as Tom. However he as more freedom without anyone looking after him.
The main characters are Darren Shan, Steve leonard, Tommy Jones and Alan Morris. However because i have read further in the book i now know tthat because of the flyer for the circus the main characters will change from those 4 to just to which are Darren and Steve. Maybe even more main characters like a circus clowns or an evil old lady. I did read there was this madam somthing. Guess the only way to find out is to read on!
3. Describe the significant relationships between the main characters.
Tom and Huck have are very close friends they do everything together whenever they can. They get lost together, get in trouble together they do very much everything together, even hunting for treasure apparently.
Daren and steve are were best friends. The book says they have been best friends since Montisorri which I think is a town ot city in the UK. Darren and Steve are best friends because Darren though he was a 'cool guy' but his mother thinks Darren is drawn to his Crazyness. No really even Steves mother calls him a 'wild child'. Darren's other firends include Alan and Tommy. Tommy apprently loves Football (scoocer) and always asked for darren to get involved. This may be due to the fact that he is like their ace in football perhaps. Alan is sort of the class star and is their teachers favorite student. However he can such err 'eradic' at times and completly forget his knowledge.
4. Who is your favourite character and why? Or - Who is the character that you can most closely relate to and why?
Well my favorite character is probably the main character Tom Sawyer, because well he's just fun to read about if i knew him in real life... well lets just say that it would be more fun than watching an air force crashing into a fireworks factory. however i cant really relate to anyone in the book because everyone in the book is either: a trouble maker, which i am almost certinly NOT. I am also not a care taker 'nanny' or aunt. However I will keep searching around for folks like me.
My Favorite is Steve 'Leopard' this is becaouse he is funny and is trouble maker like Tom Sawyer. I like him also becaouse he is Darren's best friend. Im glad he wont dissapear from the story line after they go to circus Du Freak. He also has a pretty cool nick name his Mother gave him 'wild child.' Wild Child. Thats all id need to know before trying to make friends with him.
5. Describe the style of language and literary devices that the author uses.
a) Find examples of; colourful adjectives, similes, metaphor, dramatic irony, etc..
b) Find a quote (with page number) for each example.
In The book "adventures of Tom Sawyer" the different type of language use are: Extensive use of exclimation marks, There are alot of simple adjectives and the story is very fast paced and never stops to take a breath. Other language features include Plenty of speech marks with characters talking and detailed descriptions of everything from characters to caves.
In this book there hasnt been to much language use that I have read so far. Give me some credit now im only up to like chapter 4. However i have been noticing characters talking alot with speech marks. I have also noticed that the intrduction structure is very common in some these modern books of today. There is also a little bit of french in the title 'Circus Du Freak.'
Im very early in the book so who vknows i might be able to find some language features later in the book.
6. Is your book an example of ‘classic’ or ‘modern’ literature? You must use evidence to back up your stance. For example; has your book stood the ‘test of time’? Are there theme’s that will transcend time?
I think "the adventures of Tom Sawyer is a classic book. Mainly because it has been reprinted many times and was made in the 1800's.
I also think this has some very good writing and thats what makes it great, THE WRITING. Its never stopping there is ALWAYS action going on no matter what. I love it :0
Well from what I have read so far i dont really think this will have potential to become a classic book. This is due to the fact that the writing is very similar to other books of this period. I belive that this is the key reason why some books die out very quickly and are lost in the archives of history. If you look at the other book i read Tom Sawyer that was new and original.
To make this description easier you can compare to making a cake. Sure having chocolate is great but it gets repeditive and distastful somtimes. It dosent hurt to make a cream cake now and then.
7. After reading the book, write a short note to a friend describing the book. Include a description of the genre, setting and difficulty level. You need to also include the following information; What were the main themes in the book? What was the central conflict? How was it resolved?
Describe your feelings towards the novel.
Did you enjoy it, why or why not?
Did you find it easy to get into? Did you like it the more that you read it?
Would you read more books by the same author, or of a similar genre?
After reading my book "the adventures of Tom Sawyer" i can now conclude who this book is for. The genre is adventure and the setting is in North America down near the missipi river area. The diffecullty is probably level 2/10. It is very easy to read and to get into.
I really like this book. However at first i thought it had a very slow beggining to me, but thats just the first page. If i could read more Mark Twain books i would. Also this had made me love adventure books. I want to read "huckleberry fin" now. Goodbye.
